Dear Dictators iPhone Cases (My new site selling iPhone cases)
Mail Order Masha (My lazily updated webcomic about a Russian bride.)
I have been busy finishing up stuff, and not thought about writing much but I have been wondering about one of my works.
I have been curious why nothing much comes up when I Google "Mail Order Spy". It seems a few people have made the obvious continuation of logic, but seems like all these years I wouldn't feel so alone with my idea. Anna Chapman seems to have done the trick for at least one intelligent amateur photoshopper, but it really makes me wonder about how many Soviet brides really were spies, because it seems like the most obvious route.
I was showing the almost finished Mail Order Spy painting to my Russian friend from St. Petersburg here in Vilnius and he still thinks it is a stupid idea. He is no stranger to American ideals though; I saw him once scarf a Big and Tasty he just ordered from the drive-thru, chat on a mobile phone (without hands-free), smoke, and drive the car (rather dangerously) with his knee that was so free all at once. A colleague of his also happens to own a big ring of dating sites that include some Russian dating agencies, but he still doesn't get it. Things that make you go Hmmmmm.
I too knew not that much about this phenomenon until I started watching Louis Theroux and other online documentaries. I only hope that with all the money the mafia is making with this legend of obedient women from the former Soviet Union serving old disgusting men, that at least some people also buy some prints of this work.
This will be my last blog until April 10th. I hope to have a very special and new work to talk about by then.
